フランスでのＭＯＸ燃料輸送反対集会へのメッセージ
親愛なるフランス及び全ヨーロッパの心あるみなさまへ
私たちは、原子力発電所立地点に住み、柏崎刈羽原子力発電所での軽水炉へのプルトニウム燃料の使用に反対している市民のグループです。
当地では、多数の市民の反対や、世界的な脱原発の流れに逆らってプルトニウムの軽水炉での使用が強行されようとしております。しかし、圧倒的多数の市民は、この計画に反対しております。
柏崎市では有権者の１/３を超える署名をもって住民投票が要求されましたが、東京電力の政策を支持する市議会議員はこの住民投票条例案を否決しました。また、発電所の半分の所在地である刈羽村議会においては、議会で住民投票条例案が可決されましたが、村長はこの議案を議会に差し戻し、半数に満たない東京電力側の議員によって議案は葬り去られてしまいました。現在、刈羽村では、新たに住民投票を求めて署名活動が始められようとしております。
そのような状況の中でＭＯＸ燃料の輸送が始められようとしていることに、私たちは大きな憤りを感じております。
脱原発の世界的潮流に逆らう日本の原子力政策に対し、私たちだけでなく世界中の人々が同じ意思で戦っておられることに非常に励まされ、深く深く感謝いたします。
柏崎、刈羽でも軽水炉でのプルトニウム使用を中止させるべく、全力を尽くすことを誓い、ＭＯＸ燃料輸送阻止のために集まった皆様に熱い連帯の意思を表明して柏崎刈羽からのメッセージとさせて頂きます。

Dear Our Considerate Friends in France and Europe,
We are a group of citizens who live near the site of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant, and we are opposed to the use of plutonium fuel in this light water reactor.
Here, in spite of protests by many citizens, and the worldwide trend of phasing out nuclear power, the use of plutonium in light water reactors is about to forcefully carried out. However, an overwhelming majority of the public is against this plan.
In the city of Kashiwazaki, with the signatures of over 1/3 of the electorate a referendum on this issue was requested, however city legislators who support the policies of Tokyo Electric defeated the citizen’s referendum bill. Also, in the village of Kariwa, in which half of the area of the nuclear power site is situated, the village legislators approved a citizens referendum, but the mayor sent the bill back to the legislature for re-debate, and the legislators which supported Tokyo Electric and who were less than half of the total number of legislators killed the bill. Currently in the village of Kariwa a signature drive has started to request a new citizens' referendum about this issue.
We are extremely angered by the fact that this shipment of MOX fuel is about to depart in spite of this situation in Japan.
As for Japan’s nuclear policy, which clearly goes against the worldwide trend to phase out nuclear power, we are extremely encouraged and very, very grateful to all the people from all over the world who are fighting against this policy with the same intent and purpose.
We close our warm message of solidarity to you the people who gathered to stop the MOX fuel shipment by stating that we vow to work our hardest to stop the use of plutonium in the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa light water reactor.
